If there’s one appetizer that makes people think you spent way more time in the kitchen than you actually did, it’s this one. Creamy burrata, bright lemon, fresh basil, and a generous pour of good olive oil come together in minutes, but somehow always steal the show.
Perfect for summer hosting, impromptu happy hours, or those nights when you promised you’d bring an appetizer and completely forgot until an hour before.
Ingredients
- 8 oz fresh burrata
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh basil, thinly sliced
- Big pinch of flaky sea salt
- 1 baguette, sliced thin and toasted
Instructions
- Place the burrata on a serving plate or shallow bowl.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil, and sea salt.
- Pour the mixture over the burrata.
- Sprinkle with fresh basil.
- Serve with toasted baguette slices and watch it disappear embarrassingly fast.
Flour Girls Notes
- The better the olive oil, the better this tastes.
- Assemble right before serving for the freshest flavor.
- Add a drizzle of hot honey if you’re feeling fancy. Don’t be surprised when someone asks if you got this from a restaurant.
