DIY Coffee Coconut Oil Body Scrub

I love nothing more than a good body scrub, but I find myself going through a tub a week—and the brands I actually love are expensive af.

So I started making my own, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s even better than the store-bought versions. It’s incredibly easy, made with just a few clean ingredients, and leaves my skin ridiculously soft and smooth.

The coffee grounds gently exfoliate while the caffeine can temporarily tighten the appearance of skin and help reduce the look of cellulite. Brown sugar buffs away dry skin without being too harsh, while coconut oil deeply moisturizes and leaves your skin feeling silky long after you rinse. It’s become one of those simple little rituals I actually look forward to.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup used or fresh coffee grounds
  • 6 tablespoons coconut oil, softened
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

Directions

  1. Add the coffee grounds, softened coconut oil, and brown sugar to a bowl.
  2. Stir until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Transfer to a clean glass jar with a lid.
  4. Store at room temperature for up to 2–3 weeks.

How to Use

In the shower, massage the scrub onto damp skin using circular motions, focusing on areas like your legs, arms, and hips. Let it sit for 1–2 minutes before rinsing. Pat your skin dry—you’ll still have a light layer of nourishing coconut oil left behind, so you may not even need lotion.

A Few Tips

  • Use 2–3 times per week for ultra-soft skin.
  • If your coconut oil is solid, warm it slightly until it’s soft but not completely melted.
  • Be careful getting out of the shower—the coconut oil can make the tub slippery.
